Security Walkthrough at Health and Hope Clinic
Today the Cyclone 365 team spent the day in Pensacola at Health and Hope Clinic, conducting a security posture and risk assessment walkthrough. We met with (from left to right) Larry Brooks, CTO, Sally Bergosh, Executive Director, Super Dave Nelson (Cyclone 365), and Carla Davis, Clinical Director, to review how the Clinic’s technology supports the care it delivers every day.
Health and Hope Clinic was founded in 2003 by the Pensacola Bay Baptist Association to serve the uninsured and medically underserved of Escambia County. What began with more volunteers than patients has grown into one of the most impactful charitable healthcare organizations on the Gulf Coast. Last year the Clinic delivered 20,000 patient visits, filled 9,046 prescriptions, and provided more than $7 million in free care, all with the help of 390 volunteers and just two part-time paid staff.
An organization operating at that scale handles a significant amount of protected health information, and that makes security posture a patient care issue as much as a technology issue. Our walkthrough covered network and endpoint security, access controls, data handling practices, physical security considerations, and the operational risks that come with a largely volunteer workforce. The goal is a clear, prioritized picture of where the Clinic stands today and what practical steps will strengthen it tomorrow.
Conversations like the one we had with Larry, Sally, and Carla are a reminder that good security supports the mission, it does not get in the way of it. Every hour a system is down or a record is at risk is an hour taken away from caring for people who have nowhere else to turn.
Cyclone 365 is proud to support the organizations keeping our Gulf Coast communities healthy. If your team is ready to understand its own risk picture, a security posture and risk assessment is the right place to start.
